Life Application
Who are you?
That sounds like a simple question. However, the answer can shape everything about your life.
Paul understood that new believers needed clear truth. He wrote to churches filled with people who could easily become confused. In that sense, Paul was the original life coach. Yet he offered something far better than motivational advice. He pointed people back to the truth of God’s Word.
So, who does God say you are?
First, you belong to God. First Corinthians reminds us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we are not our own. God bought us with a price. That price was the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
This truth changes how we see ourselves. We are not accidents. Our failures do not define us. Neither do our accomplishments, possessions, age, status, or the opinions of other people.
Instead, our identity rests in Christ.
Romans 5:8 makes that identity even more amazing. Christ did not wait for us to become good enough. Rather, He loved us while we were still sinners. He gave Himself for us before we could earn His love.
That means your identity begins with grace.
Then Galatians 2:20 takes us deeper. Paul says that he has been crucified with Christ. Now Christ lives in him. Consequently, the Christian life is not simply about trying harder to become a better person. It is about allowing Christ to live through us.
That changes what we do each day.
Colossians 3:17 gives us a practical direction. Whatever we say or do, we should do it in the name of Jesus. Moreover, we should give thanks to God the Father through Him.
Therefore, ordinary moments become opportunities to glorify God. A conversation can honor Him. Our decisions can honor Him. Even a kind word can honor Him. Likewise, a difficult day can become an opportunity to trust Him.
Your identity also shapes your thinking. Proverbs 23:7 teaches that our inner thoughts matter. What we believe about ourselves often influences how we live.
So, what truth are you rehearsing today?
If you believe you are worthless, you may live defeated. If you believe your past defines you, you may live trapped. However, if you believe what God says, you can live with confidence and hope.
God loves you.
Through Christ, you are forgiven.
God has made you His child.
The Holy Spirit lives within you.
Jesus has claimed you as His own.
Christ lives in you.
Your life can bring glory to God.
Good morning as you celebrate being an adopted child of the Living God. Be amazed that Christ gave His life for you. Remember that Christ lives in you. Then, whatever good you do today, do it for the glory of God.
So, do you really know who you are?
Know what God says.
Believe what God says.
Live what God says.
Brief Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me who I am in Christ. Thank You for loving me when I was still a sinner and for giving Your Son for me. Help me remember that I belong to You and that Your Spirit lives within me. Let my words, choices, attitudes, and actions bring glory to Jesus today. When I feel uncertain or discouraged, bring Your truth back to my heart. Help me live with confidence, gratitude, humility, and joy because I know whose I am. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
