Introduction
Explore this reflective devotion sharing how to make room for Jesus in the temple of your heart and daily life. As promised, this devotion concludes our reflections on “The Inn Within,” which began last Sunday. The theme has lingered in my heart, and today we drill deeper. Scripture gently but firmly presses us beyond the familiar Christmas scene and into a personal question that cannot be avoided: not merely whether there was room for Jesus then, but whether there is room for Him now.
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (NIV)
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
Supporting Quotation
“Christ is not asking for room in your life; He is demanding the keys to the house.” — Oswald Chambers
Reflection
In Bethlehem’s shadowed streets, a weary couple knocks on door after door, only to hear the echo of “no room.” The world is busy—census lines, packed inns, urgent schedules. Into that noise comes the King of Glory, not with force or spectacle, but as a helpless infant. Mary lays Him in a manger, not because it was fitting, but because it was available. Straw becomes sacred. Humility becomes holy ground.
Fast-forward to the apostle Paul’s words to the Corinthians. The same Jesus—crucified, risen, and exalted—now declares something staggering: “Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.” The story turns inward. The inn that once turned Him away is no longer a building in Bethlehem—it is us.
What crowds your inner temple today? A calendar packed with no margin? Worries that never sleep? Endless scrolling through Instagram, X, Meta, or other unchecked habits that dull spiritual sensitivity? These things quietly occupy space. When every room is full, even Christ is crowded out—not because He refuses to enter, but because He will not force His way in.
The Christmas story is not just history; it is invitation. Jesus did not break down the innkeeper’s door, and He will not break down yours. He waits patiently for your consent. He waits for surrender.
Yet grace still amazes us. Even when all we offer Him is a manger—an imperfect, cluttered, lowly place—He comes. What we label unworthy, God redeems. What looks like straw, He transforms into a throne.
Life Application
Reflect: Take an honest audit of your “inn.” What one thing needs eviction today—a grudge held too long, a pace too frantic, a habit left unexamined?
Practice a daily “temple check.” Pause three times today—morning, noon, and night. Take a deep breath. Name one distraction. Then whisper a simple prayer: “Enter, Lord.” Watch how the ordinary moments begin to change.
You can open the door. Here’s how:
- Read: Open your Bible and read one verse each day.
- Reflect: Sit quietly with it for two minutes.
- Pray: Name a few blessings and say, “Thank You.”
- Listen: Play a hymn or gospel song daily.
- Attend: A church service, Bible study, prayer group, or Christian fellowship meeting
- Invitation : Join us and invite God into your heart for just 4–7 minutes a day.

These are small daily deposits of time with God—but they can yield eternal rewards for you and your loved ones.
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus, forgive the “no vacancy” signs I have hung in my soul. As You sought shelter in Bethlehem, seek it now in me. Holy Spirit, dwell richly in this temple of flesh—remove what dishonors You and fill me with Your peace. Teach me to make room daily, that my life might cradle Your glory. Amen.

I always thought that God had a place in my life. I only vaguely thought of The Holy Spirit living in my heart. These Devotions Done Daily have opened my eyes to so much more. When situations arise than I am not necessarily happy about doing, I now ask myself “what would Jesus do? “
Thanks to everyone that contribute to these daily devotions.
I’ve known you for decades Ted. Obvious to me that God lives in your heart every day. Hugs, Bill
