Introduction
Reflect on God’s saving grace and discover the power of abiding in Christ through this encouraging devotion. Where would we be without Jesus Christ? That question humbles every believer who pauses long enough to reflect on God’s mercy. Before Christ rescued us, we wandered through life burdened by sin, fear, shame, and hopelessness. Yet, through His grace, Jesus reached into our brokenness and gave us new life. Today’s devotion reminds us that apart from Him we can do nothing, but through Him we can endure, overcome, and flourish spiritually.
Jesus said, “Abide in me, and I in you. As a branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” (John 15:4). In other words, our strength, peace, and purpose come directly from staying connected to Christ.

Reflection
The worship song “Where Would I Be” powerfully captures the testimony of every redeemed believer. When we honestly examine our lives apart from Christ, we recognize how lost we truly were. Some people were trapped in destructive habits. Others struggled under the crushing weight of anxiety, fear, pride, loneliness, or shame. Still others chased success, pleasure, or approval, only to discover that none of those things could satisfy the emptiness within.
However, Jesus stepped into our story. He pursued us while we were still wandering. He loved us when we felt unlovable. Moreover, He offered forgiveness when we deserved judgment. Because of the cross, our chains were broken, our shame was removed, and our future was transformed forever.
The Apostle Paul understood this transformation deeply. He wrote, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” (Galatians 2:20). Paul knew that true life begins when self dies and Christ reigns within us. Consequently, believers no longer walk through life alone. Christ Himself strengthens, guides, and sustains us daily.
Furthermore, Jesus described Himself as the vine and His followers as branches. A branch disconnected from the vine quickly withers because it has no independent source of life. Likewise, Christians cannot thrive spiritually apart from continual fellowship with Christ. Therefore, prayer matters. Scripture matters. Worship matters. Obedience matters. These practices do not earn salvation; instead, they help us remain connected to the One who gives life.
The phrase from the song, “Thank God, I’ll never know,” expresses profound gratitude. By God’s grace, believers have been rescued from paths that would have ended in destruction. While we may still face trials, temptations, and failures, we no longer walk without hope. Instead, we walk with the Savior who promised never to leave us nor forsake us.
Additionally, this devotion reminds us that every blessing ultimately comes from God. Philippians 4:19 assures believers that “God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” The Lord not only saves us; He also sustains us. Day after day, He provides strength for weary hearts, peace for anxious minds, and grace for every challenge we face.
Perhaps today you feel weak or discouraged. Maybe you are carrying burdens nobody else sees. Even so, Jesus invites you to abide in Him. Stay close to the Vine. Trust His promises. Lean on His strength instead of your own. The same Savior who rescued you continues to walk beside you today.
And when you reflect on your life honestly, you may find yourself asking the same question: “Where would I be without Jesus?” Thankfully, because of His mercy, you never have to know.
