Let Us Pray
Lord, thank You that You sought us when we were lost. Draw us by Your Spirit today. Amen.
Let Us Worship In Song
Introduction
God seeks us when we cannot seek Him. By grace we are saved. God seeks us through His Spirit and calls us to Himself. This devotion reminds us that our salvation depends fully on His grace and mercy, not on our own effort. Because God seeks us, we can rest assured that His pursuit is constant and His mercy never fails.
Life Application
Scripture is clear about the human condition. Paul writes, “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God” (Romans 3:10-11). Left to ourselves, we would never look for God. Instead, we live in rebellion, clinging to our own way.
God pursues us
Yet the good news is this: God seeks us. He does not wait for us to come searching. He initiates the rescue. Jesus explained this beautifully: “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them” (John 6:44). Our first stirrings of spiritual desire are not born out of our own determination. They are born of grace. The Holy Spirit awakens in us a longing that we could never produce by ourselves. This is why salvation is not of works but of mercy. Once again, it is vital to remember that God seeks us. Ephesians reminds us: “By grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8).
God calls us
If we could seek and find God on our own, salvation would become an achievement. But instead, it remains a gift to be received in humility. Titus 3:5 says it plainly: “He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.” Salvation is not man’s achievement—it is God’s mercy. Therefore, God seeks us even before we realize our need.
God draws us
Think of it this way: no one simply wakes up and decides to seek God without divine help. Rather, when we feel the pull toward prayer, when the Bible suddenly speaks with power, when conviction of sin pierces our conscience—that is God at work. That is His mercy drawing us closer. Our part is to respond with open hearts and willing obedience, trusting that God seeks us because He loves us deeply. For those who worry about friends and family who seem uninterested in faith, these passages remind us to pray with confidence. God seeks us, and He also seeks them. He goes after the lost sheep, and He has the power to stir even the hardest heart. Because God seeks us, we can rest in His ability to pursue those we love, trusting Him to awaken faith in His perfect time.

My prodigal son this morning told me that he has been praying. Not just for himself but for others who he knows are struggling and dealing with serious health issues. I cannot recall a time when he shared that he believes prayer works and in fact, in recent years he has told me that he did not believe in God. God has changed his hardened heart! I pray that he continues to lean on Him in his daily actions!
Praise God for this Good News!
