Let Us Pray
Lord, restore our hearts to honor the Sabbath. Help us to worship You not just in place or tradition, but in Spirit and in truth. Amen.
Let Us Worship In Song
Introduction
Sabbath rest still remains for God’s people. Worship in spirit and truth, and keep the Sabbath holy today. Sabbath rest is not a forgotten relic—it’s a divine invitation. In today’s fast-paced world, God still calls His people to honor the Sabbath and worship Him in spirit and in truth.
Sabbath Rest Is Still for Today
“So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.” (Hebrews 4:9)
Many believers in America have strayed far from the idea of the Sabbath. Sundays have lost their sacredness, reduced to just another day for errands, entertainment, or overtime. Church buildings have even stopped Sunday evening gatherings, putting up “Going Out of Business” signs. Our culture has replaced Sabbath rest with Sabbath rush.
But God’s Word is unchanging. “Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the LORD your God commanded.” (Deuteronomy 5:12) The command to honor the Sabbath wasn’t simply about attendance—it was about adoration.
However, just showing up at a church service doesn’t mean we’ve worshiped. A true encounter with God requires more than ritual. It requires heart. It requires spirit and truth.
Jesus corrected the Samaritan woman’s thinking when she focused on the place of worship. He told her, “The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth… God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:23–24)
That hour Jesus spoke of is now. We are called to worship God every day, everywhere, not just in the church building. Still, the Sabbath remains a rhythm for rest and sacred reflection. It’s not legalism—it’s liberty. It’s not about restriction—it’s about restoration.
So today, take the invitation. Set apart this day. Let it be holy. Let your worship flow from spirit and truth. Sabbath rest still remains—and it restores your soul.
