Isaiah 33:22 (ESV)
“For the LORD is our judge; the LORD is our lawgiver; the LORD is our king; he will save us.”
Isaiah is often called a major prophet. Many Christians also call Isaiah the “Gospel Prophet” because many passages point forward to Christ. Christians commonly identify numerous messianic prophecies and prophetic passages in Isaiah as fulfilled in Jesus.
Jesus Is Our Judge

“And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead.”
Jesus Is Our Lawgiver
James 4:12 (ESV)
“There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?”

We Are Called to Believe by Faith

LIFE APPLICATION
Faith does not ask us to understand everything before we trust Jesus. Instead, faith calls us to trust the One who already knows everything.
Believe Your Judge
Isaiah reminds us that the Lord is our Judge. Acts confirms that Jesus is the One appointed by God to judge the living and the dead. That truth should not make a believer live in fear. Instead, it should lead us to confidence. Jesus knows every thought, every motive, every struggle, and every failure. Yet He also knows the heart that turns to Him in faith.
Because Jesus is our Judge, we can stop trying to be our own judge. We do not have to carry the burden of proving our worth. Therefore, we can bring our failures honestly to Christ and trust His grace.
Trust Your Lawgiver
Isaiah also calls the Lord our Lawgiver. James tells us there is one Lawgiver and Judge who is able to save. Jesus does not give us commands to make our lives miserable. Rather, His commands lead us toward the life God designed for us.
When we believe, we begin to see God’s Word differently. Instead of asking, “Why do I have to do this?” we can ask, “Lord, how can I follow You?” That change in attitude turns obedience into an expression of love.
Follow Your King
Isaiah declares that the Lord is our King. Paul describes Jesus as the King of kings and Lord of lords. A king deserves our allegiance, and Jesus deserves more than occasional attention. He deserves our whole heart.
Consequently, faith means more than saying we believe. It changes the direction of our lives. We trust Jesus when the future looks uncertain; follow Him when His way differs from our plans, and obey Him when obedience costs us something.
Rest in Your Savior
Perhaps the most comforting truth is this: Jesus is our Savior. The angel announced that He came as Savior, Christ, and Lord. Romans reminds us that faith is counted as righteousness. We do not earn salvation by performing enough good works. Instead, we receive God’s grace by trusting Christ.
So, what should we do today? Believe.
When worry rises, believe; when answers seem far away, believe; when circumstances challenge your confidence, believe; when you cannot explain what God is doing, believe.
Your faith does not rest on your ability to understand everything. It rests on the character of Jesus. He is your Judge, your Lawgiver, your King, and your Savior.
Good morning. Do not worry about explaining everything. Simply believe by faith. Put your trust in Jesus today, and let that faith shape the way you think, speak, and live.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus to be our Judge, Lawgiver, King, and Savior. Help us trust You when we do not understand. Strengthen our faith when worry rises, and help us follow Jesus with confidence and obedience. May our thoughts, words, and actions reflect our belief in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
