It is not because I am worthy… its all because of mercy…
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
(Lamentations 3:22-23)
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
(1 Peter 1:3)
“Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.”
(Luke 6:36)

“All Because of Mercy” – Casting Crowns
This powerful song is a humble confession that our salvation, peace, and daily hope come not from our own worthiness, but solely from God’s mercy and grace.
“I know the only reason I can stand here unashamed
Is not because I’m worthy
It’s all because of mercy
There’s no way that I could earn it
Praise God my debt is paid
It’s not because I’m worthy
It’s all because of mercy”
The song honestly acknowledges our brokenness from the very first breath and reminds us that even seasoned believers remain “just as desperate for You now as I was back then.” Whether we are in a pew, on a stage, or in the middle of a mess, we are still being carried by His mercy.

“Mercy is the sweetest word in the Gospel. It is the very heart of God.”
— Charles Spurgeon
Reflection
Explore the profound message of mercy and grace in life and salvation through the lens of faith and scripture. It is easy to slip into thinking God’s favor depends on our performance. “All Because of Mercy” reminds us that we are saved, sustained, and loved entirely by God’s unmerited mercy. Salvation is not earned — it is a gift. Even after many years of walking with Christ, we remain just as dependent on His grace today as on the day He first rescued us. This truth destroys pride and fills us with gratitude, freeing us to extend mercy to others.
Additional Scriptures
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
(Psalm 23:6)
“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in times of need.”
(Hebrews 4:16)
“He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.”
(Titus 3:5)
Personal Application
- Honestly admit any area where you have been trying to earn God’s approval or where pride has taken root.
- Thank Him again for the mercy that reached you in your brokenness.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to remind you throughout the day: “I’m just as desperate for You now as I was back then.”
- Look for one opportunity today to show mercy to someone else.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You that Your mercies are new every morning. I confess that nothing I have done makes me worthy of Your love. My standing before You is all because of mercy — the mercy that sent Jesus to the cross, paid my debt in full, and called me out of darkness.
Keep me humble. Keep me desperate for You today and every day. When I forget, remind me once again. Help me extend the same mercy I have received to those around me.
In the precious name of Jesus, my Savior, I pray.
Amen..
