How Do You React to Jesus’ Miracles? | Daily Christian Devotion

Person astonished by the miracles of Jesus
Awe of God

Introduction

Reflect on how do you react to Jesus’ miracles and the lessons of gratitude and awe drawn from His divine acts.   The Gospel of Mark gives us a powerful glimpse into people’s reactions to Christ’s divine power: “And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, ‘He has done all things well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.’” (Mark 7:37). This verse beautifully summarizes not only the amazement of those who saw His works firsthand but also the reverence we should still feel today. The miracles of Jesus are not mere stories — they reveal His authority, compassion, and divinity.

Morning Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for reminding us that Your power is as real today as it was two thousand years ago. Open our eyes to see Your hand at work around us and our hearts to respond with gratitude, awe, and faith. Amen.

Devotion

The four Gospels record thirty-seven distinct miracles of Jesus, ranging from healing the sick to calming storms and raising the dead. Each miracle displayed His divine authority over sickness, sin, nature, and even death itself. Crowds witnessed these acts with overwhelming emotions — awe, astonishment, reverence, fear, and sometimes skepticism. Even those who doubted could not ignore His extraordinary power.

When we read these accounts today, they invite us into that same wonder. Every healing and act of compassion points to Jesus as the Son of God, not just a historical figure, but the living Savior who still performs miracles in our lives — through transformed hearts, renewed hope, and answered prayers.

How do you react to these miracles? Do you stand in awe, like those first witnesses, or do you question what you can’t explain? Jesus never performed miracles for applause; He did them to reveal the Father’s love and to strengthen our faith. As we read these stories, may we respond with praise rather than skepticism, gratitude rather than doubt.

Life Application

Scripture: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8

Practical Takeaway: Jesus’ miracles remind us that nothing is beyond His reach. The same power that opened blind eyes can open our hearts to believe and act in faith.

  • 🙏 Reflect on one miracle of Jesus that strengthens your faith.
  • 📖 Read Mark 7:31–37 slowly, picturing yourself among the crowd.
  • 🕊️ Replace skepticism with trust in areas where you struggle to believe.
  • 🙌 Share a personal testimony of how God has worked a “miracle” in your life this week.

“Miracles are not contrary to nature, but only contrary to what we know about nature.” — Saint Augustine

Closing Prayer

Lord, thank You for being a God who still performs miracles. Help me to see Your power in both the ordinary and extraordinary moments of life. Strengthen my faith, so I may always react with worship and wonder. Amen.
