Christianity Opens the Door
Faiths around the world view Jesus differently:
- Muslims believe Jesus did not die.
- Jews believe Jesus died but did not rise.
- Christians believe Jesus died for our sins and rose again.
Clearly, these beliefs cannot all be true. So, what sets Christianity apart?
Two Levels of Religion
1. Shared Ethics: Most faiths teach the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” This common foundation encourages mutual respect and acknowledges that people of many beliefs can be deeply moral. 2. Relationship with God: The real distinction lies here. Most religions say we gain divine acceptance *after* a lifetime of effort and good deeds—if we pass the test. Then, the door to Paradise opens.
In contrast, Christianity proclaims that Jesus stands at the front door, offering immediate acceptance based on His sacrifice, not our performance. Once we accept Him, we’re welcomed in, and the relationship begins.
Unconditional Love—An Illustration
Imagine a marriage proposal where you’re accepted only after decades of flawless behavior. That’s not real love. True love accepts first and nurtures growth afterward. So it is with Christ. We don’t live to earn His love; we live because we already have it through His death and resurrection. Jesus said, “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved…” (John 10:9). Christianity opens the door to forgiveness and fellowship from the very start, offering what no other religion dares: salvation based solely on grace.
