Introduction
Jesus is the resurrection and the life. Faith in Him turns grief into hope and gives assurance of eternal life. The Resurrection and the Life — Jesus gives us hope that death is not the end but the doorway to eternal life. In His words, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live” (John 11:25). This promise frames our faith with assurance and fills us with hope when facing loss.
Scripture Reading
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.’” (John 11:25)
Devotion
Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead four days after his passing. This miracle revealed His divine authority and confirmed His promise of life beyond the grave. Death, in Christ, is not a final word but a passage into everlasting life. For this reason, we grieve differently than the world. While we sorrow over the absence of loved ones, we also rejoice knowing they live eternally with Him.
Faith and belief in Jesus are inseparable from a biblical perspective. To trust Christ is to believe His word, even when our eyes cannot see. As Paul reminds us, “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). The writer of Hebrews adds, “Without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). Faith becomes the anchor that holds us steady through grief and trials, pointing us to the eternal hope Christ secured through His resurrection.
Life Application
Today, let us live with confidence that eternal life in Christ is real. His resurrection changes how we grieve, how we live, and how we hope. As Billy Graham once said, “For the believer there is hope beyond the grave, because Jesus Christ has opened the door to heaven for us by His death and resurrection.”
- ☑ Reflect on John 11:25 and thank God for the promise of eternal life.
- ☑ When faced with grief, remind yourself that death is not the end in Christ.
- ☑ Strengthen your faith daily by walking in belief, not sight.
- ☑ Share the hope of Christ’s resurrection with someone who needs encouragement.
- ☑ Begin the day rejoicing that because He lives, you too will live forever.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Help me to walk by faith, to trust in Your promises, and to comfort others with the hope of the resurrection. Amen.
