Introduction
Explore the power of the Holy Spirit that empowers believers for witness and holy living in today’s world. Jesus never intended His followers to live the Christian life in their own strength. Before returning to the Father, He promised that the Holy Spirit would come to empower every believer for service, witness, and holy living. The same Spirit who empowered the early church is still at work today, equipping God’s people to accomplish the good works He has prepared for them.

Life Application
When Jesus spoke the words recorded in John 14:12, He was preparing His disciples for a dramatic change. Soon He would return to the Father, and the promised Holy Spirit would come to dwell within every believer. Jesus was not suggesting that His followers would become greater than He is. Rather, He was revealing that through the power of the Holy Spirit, His ministry would spread throughout the entire world as millions of believers carried His Gospel to every nation.
That promise is still being fulfilled today.
Too often we attempt to serve Christ using only our own abilities. We rely on determination, experience, or hard work. Although those qualities have value, they were never meant to replace the Spirit’s power. God calls us to dependence before He calls us to accomplishment.
The Holy Spirit gives wisdom when we are uncertain, courage when we are fearful, strength when we are weary, and words when we do not know what to say. He opens doors we could never open ourselves and changes hearts that no human effort could ever change.
The Apostle Paul understood this truth. He reminded the church that one servant plants, another waters, but God gives the increase. Our responsibility is faithful obedience. God’s responsibility is producing lasting fruit. That truth removes both pride and discouragement. We simply remain available while God accomplishes His work through us.
Corrie ten Boom lived this reality. After enduring the horrors of a Nazi concentration camp, she became one of the world’s most effective Christian witnesses. She knew from experience that lasting ministry never flows from human strength alone.
As Corrie ten Boom wisely observed:
“Trying to do the Lord’s work in your own strength is the most confusing, exhausting, and tedious of all work. But when you are filled with the Holy Spirit, then the ministry of Jesus just flows out of you.”
What a wonderful reminder for each of us today.
God has already prepared good works for you to accomplish. He has uniquely gifted you, placed you where you are, and filled you with His Spirit for His purposes. Your greatest usefulness for Christ may still lie ahead.
So begin this day with confidence—not confidence in yourself, but confidence in the Holy Spirit who lives within you. As you yield your heart to Him, He will guide your steps, empower your witness, and accomplish through you far more than you could ever imagine.
Good morning! Go today and unleash the power of the Holy Spirit. Remember, God gives the increase.

Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the wonderful gift of Your Holy Spirit. Forgive me for the times I have relied on my own strength instead of depending upon Yours. Fill me afresh today with Your Spirit. Guide my thoughts, direct my words, and strengthen my hands for every good work You have prepared for me. Help me to faithfully plant and water while trusting You to bring the increase. May my life reflect Jesus Christ and bring glory to Your name. Use me to encourage others and to share the hope of the Gospel wherever You lead.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
