Let Us Pray
Lord, help me to decrease in pride and selfishness so that You may increase in my heart and life. Amen.
Let Us Worship In Song
Introduction
More for Less or Less for More reminds us that following Christ often means giving up self so that God may be glorified. While we may begin our walk expecting blessings without trials, the reality is that our growth requires surrender, humility, and obedience. This is how we truly live for more of Him and less of ourselves.
Main Body
More for Less or Less for More calls us to humility. John 3:30 reminds us that more of Him means less of me. “He must increase, but I must decrease.” — John 3:30. These seven words from John the Baptist carry deep spiritual weight. They turn our natural instincts upside down. We start our Christian walk envisioning the “land of milk and honey,” but quickly discover we often journey through fields of “thorns and thistles.” Yes, we are headed toward the Promised Land, yet the path is filled with giants, and we may feel small in comparison. Obedience is a steady, lifelong battle against our own desires and selfish tendencies. It is a battle won by daily surrender. For God to increase in our lives, we must choose to decrease in self-focus. This means we:
- Put others first
- Comfort the bereaved
- Visit the shut-ins
- Present ourselves as living sacrifices
This principle is much like parenting. We want our children to grow strong, wise, and independent — even if that means our own role diminishes. Their increase naturally means our decrease, and this is not loss but love in action. So today, pray for “more of Him” with the understanding that it comes at the cost of “less of me.” In this divine exchange, we gain what truly matters — Christ living fully in us.
