Let Us Pray
Heavenly Father, help us recognize that our daily choices reflect our devotion to You. Teach us to walk in obedience, and mold our hearts to seek holiness above all else. Amen.

Introduction
Actions have consequences, and God’s Word makes this crystal clear. In both the Old and New Testaments, we see how obedience leads to blessing while disobedience brings correction. The character of God does not change—He is holy, just, and loving. He desires the best for His children, but our experience of His blessings depends on how we live.
Our Actions Have Consequences
Many believers take comfort in knowing that salvation is secure. As Ephesians 1:13-14 says, “In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.” This seal guarantees our eternal inheritance. Still, while salvation is permanent, our relationship with God and His response to us are deeply impacted by our daily choices.
1 John 1:5-10 explains how we are to walk in the light as God is in the light. It teaches us that sin separates, but confession restores. God expects us to pursue holiness—not as a means to earn salvation, but as a reflection of our love and reverence for Him. Holiness honors the God who saved us.
Leviticus 26 is a striking passage. God lists the blessings that will follow obedience and the punishments that will result from disobedience. He expected Israel to reflect His holiness, and He hasn’t changed. Though the covenantal context is different, the principle is the same: our actions matter.
Old Testament
Sadly, some churches today avoid the Old Testament entirely. One former pastor of mine focused only on four New Testament books. That narrow scope left out the depth and beauty of God’s entire counsel. Eventually, I found a new church that honored the whole Bible.
Understanding the Old Testament is essential for comprehending the New. The Old sets the stage for the New. The law, prophets, and covenants all point to Christ. If we neglect the foundation, our understanding of grace becomes shallow.
So, how are you living? Are you striving to live a holy life? Are you walking in obedience, knowing God blesses righteousness but corrects rebellion? Let the truth of His Word transform your heart today. Remember—actions have consequences, and God desires to bless those who walk faithfully before Him.

Sometimes I am dumbfounded, when people act surprised to find out there are consequences to their actions. Consequences apply in our spiritual life and in our earthly life. This devotional was certainly a reminder of that.
Amen Ted. Bill
There are always consequences to our actions whether our choices are good or bad. May I always make choices that are pleasing to God!
