Introduction
Discover the powerful truth behind the Made for More devotion and learn how your identity and purpose are found in Christ rather than in the world.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life. He does not pass into judgment but has passed from death to life.” — The Gospel of John
“This is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and the life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” — First Epistle of John
We live in a world that constantly tries to define us by our past, our failures, our achievements, and even our fears. However, Jesus speaks a far greater truth over our lives: we were made for more. Moreover, God did not create us merely for worldly success or temporary happiness. Instead, He created us for abundant life, eternal purpose, and a lasting identity rooted in Christ.
Because of Jesus, we are no longer trapped by who we used to be. Rather, we are invited into the new life God designed for us from the very beginning. Although the world often tells us that we are limited by our mistakes, Scripture reminds us that God’s grace is greater than our failures. Therefore, we can live with confidence, hope, and freedom.

Reflection
The gospel message is not simply about escaping judgment. Instead, it is about stepping fully into the life God offers through Jesus Christ. In John 5:24, Jesus clearly declares that those who believe in Him have already crossed over from death into life. Consequently, eternal life is not only a future promise; it is also a present reality for every believer.
Nevertheless, many Christians still live as though they remain chained to their past. They continue carrying guilt, shame, and regret even though Christ has already paid the price for their freedom. As a result, they struggle to experience the joy and confidence God desires for them.
The song Made For More beautifully reinforces this truth. It reminds believers that identity is not formed by failure but by the character of God. In other words, when we truly understand who God is—loving, merciful, faithful, and forgiving—we begin to understand who we are in Him. We are redeemed, chosen, accepted, and made alive through Christ.
Sin Is Forgiven
Furthermore, Scripture repeatedly confirms this transformation. Epistle to the Colossians teaches that although we were once dead in sin, God made us alive with Christ. In addition, He forgave all our sins and canceled every charge that stood against us.
What an incredible picture of grace. Every mistake, every regret, and every hidden shame was nailed to the cross. Not partially forgiven. Not temporarily covered. Completely removed through Jesus Christ.
Even so, many believers continue living as though those accusations still remain. They replay old memories, carry unnecessary guilt, and settle for far less than the abundant life God intended. However, the truth of Scripture remains firm: if you have the Son, you have life. Moreover, that life is full of hope, purpose, peace, and freedom.
Likewise, Epistle to the Romans reminds us that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Because of that promise, we can walk confidently in freedom rather than fear. We are free to love deeply, serve faithfully, and live boldly without being weighed down by our past.
God never intended for you merely to survive. Instead, He created you to reflect His glory, walk in His purpose, and experience the fullness of His grace. Therefore, you truly were made for more.
Life Application
- Reject false labels: Whenever negative thoughts about your past arise, intentionally replace them with God’s truth about your identity.
- Embrace your new life: Each day, remind yourself that through Christ you have already passed from death into life.
- Live with purpose: Ask God daily to reveal how your gifts and experiences can encourage and serve others.
- Walk in freedom: Stop carrying guilt and shame that Jesus has already taken away.
- Renew your mind with Scripture: As you spend time in God’s Word, your heart will gradually become aligned with His truth instead of the world’s opinions.
Remember, God is still working in your life. Therefore, do not settle for discouragement, fear, or spiritual defeat. Instead, walk confidently in the identity Christ has given you.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me eternal life through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Help me to truly believe that I am no longer defined by my past, my failures, or my fears. Instead, teach me to see myself through the truth of Your Word and the power of Your grace. Whenever guilt or shame tries to return, remind me that Jesus has already carried those burdens to the cross. Furthermore, strengthen me to walk daily in freedom, purpose, and confidence. Thank You for creating me for more than this world could ever offer. May my life reflect Your love, Your mercy, and Your glory each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
