Introduction
Christian integrity reflects faithfulness. The Bible shows how honesty, keeping commitments, and faithfulness reveal a true Christian life. It is faith in action. Christian integrity is a reflection of faithfulness. The closer we draw to Jesus, the more faithfully we will live, speak, and act. Integrity reveals to the world that we belong to Christ.
Life Application
A Christian is called to exhibit integrity, yet sometimes we discover that people—even believers—struggle with honesty. Scripture reminds us that the biblical word for integrity is faithfulness. Integrity is not just about appearances; it is about consistency in truth, character, and devotion to God.
What does Christian integrity look like? The Bible gives us a clear picture:
- Tell the truth: “The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.” (Proverbs 12:22)
- Keep your word: “Who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind.” (Psalm 15:4 NIV)
- Be who you are: Remember you are a child of God and live consistently with that identity.
- Avoid bad company: People will judge you by the integrity of your friends.
- Be found faithful: “Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” (1 Corinthians 4:2)
- Be strong under fire: The courage of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (Daniel 3:17-18) shows faithfulness even when tested.
- Be accountable: “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” (Hebrews 10:24-25)
- Keep your commitments: Even when circumstances change, integrity holds firm to promises made.
Integrity means living faithfully in every situation. It means keeping our word even when it costs us something, speaking truth when it would be easier to lie, and being steady in devotion to Christ when the world pressures us to compromise. Integrity flows from the heart of a faithful believer, and the closer we are to Jesus, the more integrity will mark our lives.
Praise God always, for He is our ultimate example of faithfulness.
