Life Application
God never created anyone by accident. From the beginning, He created mankind in His own image with purpose, value, and the ability to reflect His character. Every believer is uniquely designed by the Creator and is entrusted with spiritual gifts that are intended to build His kingdom.
When we place our faith in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit takes up residence within us. Along with His presence comes His empowerment. Scripture teaches that the Holy Spirit distributes spiritual gifts according to God’s perfect wisdom—not according to our abilities, popularity, education, or position. Each gift is an expression of God’s grace.
Some believers are gifted to teach. Others encourage, lead, show mercy, serve quietly behind the scenes, give generously, or proclaim the gospel. While the gifts differ, the purpose remains the same: to glorify Christ and serve others. Therefore, no gift is insignificant in God’s eyes. The church flourishes when every believer faithfully uses the gifts God has entrusted to them.
Many Christians spend years wondering what God’s purpose is for their lives. Often, that purpose begins by discovering how God has uniquely equipped them. As we pray, study His Word, serve faithfully, and remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit, He reveals opportunities that align with the gifts He has given us.
One of our children asked Kaye and me to pray that our granddaughter would discover her spiritual gifts and God’s purpose early in life. What a wonderful prayer for every young believer. Imagine the difference if each Christian recognized God’s calling early and devoted those gifts to His service throughout life.
Personal Experience
I have witnessed God’s faithfulness personally. More than forty years ago, the Lord clearly impressed upon my heart that He had given me the gifts of teaching and speaking. Those gifts opened many opportunities to encourage others through Bible studies, Sunday school classes, and public speaking.
As the years passed, physical limitations changed what I could do. Eventually, I could no longer minister in many of the ways I once had. Yet God’s calling never changed. Instead, He opened another door. He prompted me to begin writing these daily devotions from my home so His Word could continue reaching people around the world.
Our circumstances may change, but God’s gifts and His purposes remain. He simply provides new opportunities to use them. Whatever season of life you are experiencing, ask God to reveal your gifts, develop them through faithful obedience, and use them for His glory. Faithful stewardship is not measured by how many gifts we possess but by how faithfully we use the ones He has given us.
As you begin today, remember that your thoughts shape your actions. When you see yourself as God sees you—created in His image, gifted by His Spirit, and called for His purpose—you can confidently serve Him wherever He leads.

Brief Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for creating us in Your image and for giving every believer spiritual gifts through the Holy Spirit. Help us discover the gifts You have entrusted to us and use them faithfully to serve others and glorify Your name. Keep us from comparing ourselves with others, but instead teach us to be good stewards of Your grace. Strengthen us to serve You in every season of life, knowing that Your purpose never changes. May our lives point others to Jesus Christ.
