Christ the Lord Is Risen Today

Few hymns proclaim the victory of our risen Savior more joyfully than this timeless classic. As you worship today, remember that Jesus Christ is alive forevermore, and because He lives, all who trust Him have the promise of eternal life.
Scripture Focus
Romans 10:9 (KJV)
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Mark 16:6 (KJV)
“And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.”
Proverbs 23:7 (KJV)
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…”
Life Application
There is an old Scottish proverb that says, “Confession is good for the soul.” While there is wisdom in that saying, the Apostle Paul takes confession to an entirely different level. He tells us that eternal salvation is linked to two inseparable truths. First, we must openly confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord. Second, we must sincerely believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead.
Notice that Paul does not describe salvation as merely agreeing with certain religious facts. Genuine faith transforms the heart and naturally flows into a public confession. A believer is not ashamed to identify with Jesus Christ. Rather, he gladly proclaims that Jesus is Lord because He truly reigns over every part of life.
Equally important is believing in the resurrection. Christianity rises or falls on this historic event. If Christ did not rise from the grave, our faith would be empty. However, because He did rise, every promise He made is true. His resurrection proves His victory over sin, death, and Satan. It confirms that His sacrifice on the cross completely satisfied the Father’s righteous judgment against sin.
Throughout history many religious leaders have gathered devoted followers. Yet every one of them remains in the grave. Their tombs have become places of remembrance.
Jesus Christ stands completely apart from every other religious figure who has ever lived. His tomb was borrowed because He had no need for it beyond three days. On resurrection morning it was empty. The angel joyfully declared, “He is risen; he is not here.” Those words changed history forever.
Evidence Based
The evidence for Christ’s resurrection is remarkable. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John each recorded eyewitness testimony. Peter boldly preached the risen Christ only weeks after witnessing Him alive. Hundreds of believers saw Jesus following His resurrection. Even the first-century Jewish historian Josephus acknowledged that Jesus’ followers believed they had seen Him alive again after His crucifixion.
Because Jesus lives, our faith rests upon historical reality rather than wishful thinking. Christianity is not built upon myths or legends but upon the living Son of God who conquered death forever.
Today over 2.5 Billion people around the world continue to confess that Jesus Christ is Lord because He still changes lives. He forgives sinners, restores broken hearts, grants peace in troubled times, and offers the sure hope of everlasting life. Every transformed life becomes another testimony that our Savior is indeed alive.
When Paul wrote Romans 10:9, he was inviting every person to respond personally to God’s gracious gift of salvation. Each of us must decide what we believe about Jesus Christ. Will we confess Him openly? Will we believe that God raised Him from the dead?
The wonderful promise remains unchanged. Those who place their faith in the risen Christ receive forgiveness, eternal life, and the assurance that one day they too will share in His resurrection victory.
Good morning, as you seek the living Christ.
Life Application
Today, if you have never publicly confessed Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, there is no better time than now. Receive Him by faith. Trust completely in His finished work on the cross. Believe with all your heart that God raised Him from the dead. His invitation remains open to all who will come.
And if you already know Christ, let your life boldly proclaim what your lips confess. Live with resurrection power. Share the Good News with someone today. Encourage a friend who is struggling. Remind those around you that our hope is not found in this world but in our living Savior.
The empty tomb still speaks. Jesus Christ is alive, and because He lives, everyone who trusts in Him has the promise of eternal life.

A Christian Leader’s Thought
“Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime.”
— Martin Luther
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins and to rise again in glorious victory. Thank You that the empty tomb assures us that death has been defeated and eternal life is available to all who believe.
Help us to confess boldly that Jesus is Lord. Strengthen our faith so that we never doubt the power of His resurrection. Fill our hearts with courage to share the Gospel, compassion to love others, and confidence to live each day for Your glory.
May our lives reflect the hope, joy, and victory found only in our risen Savior.
In the precious name of Jesus we pray.
Amen.
