Main Body
Guard your vision carefully, for your eyes shape your heart. “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.” (Matthew 6:22–23) Modern psychologists confirm what Scripture has always taught: what we see influences who we become. Today, screens present one of the greatest challenges to mental and spiritual health. Children often lock onto iPads, iPhones, and computers, endlessly scrolling through social media. What are they truly seeing?
Adults face the same battle. Many fall into addiction through pornography, which darkens both mind and soul. I once worked with men struggling in this area, and it made clear the truth of Jesus’ words. If your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. The pathway of the eyes shapes the state of the heart.
Solomon understood this truth long ago. He wrote, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7) What we choose to see influences what we think, and what we think molds who we are. That is why guarding your eyes is essential for living in God’s light. Each day we have a choice: to fill our vision with things that glorify God or to drift toward shadows that dim His light within us. Your eyes determine the lamp of your body. Choose wisely so that your whole being shines with His goodness.
