Do Not Look Back but keep pressing on in faith. Jesus calls us forward, and Paul urges us to live as His witnesses. Do Not Look Back is both a warning and an encouragement. When Jesus calls us, our lives take a new direction, leaving behind the old ways. Do Not Look Back but press on toward the goal of Christ.
Life Application
In Luke 9:62, Jesus declared, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” These words remind us that discipleship requires undivided commitment. Once we accept Christ, we are called to follow Him wholeheartedly, not dwelling on our past mistakes, failures, or even successes.
Paul echoed this truth in Philippians 3:13–14: “But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Paul understood that spiritual growth is a forward-moving journey. He admitted that he could not fulfill his calling in his own strength, but only through the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit.
When we look back, we risk distraction, regret, or discouragement. The enemy often uses our past to chain us in guilt or pride. However, Christ calls us to freedom. Through Him, we are empowered to live as witnesses, pressing on toward the eternal prize. Transitioning from our old lives, we must embrace the Spirit’s leading and walk boldly as victors in Jesus.
Therefore, do not allow yesterday’s burdens to weigh down today’s obedience. Instead, move forward in faith, confident that the Lord who calls you also equips you. Remember: the Spirit of Christ is leading you today to be His witness. As Proverbs 23:7 teaches, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Think forward, live forward, and keep your eyes fixed on Christ. **Do Not Look Back**.
