Five Christian facts.

As we move through our Christian journey, we need  to keep the following facts in mind:

1. God doesn’t tell us to understand. He tells us to trust Him. Proverbs 3:5-6

2. If you’re worried about it, that’s a sign you need to pray about it. Philippians 4:6-7

3. Even if other people leave you, God will never abandon you. Hebrews 13:5

4. God’s timing is better than your timing. Isaiah 55:8-9

5. God knows what is best for you. Trust His plan. Jeremiah 29:11

What is God’s plan for our life is as follows: 1. Salvation 2. Fellowship 3. Obedience 4. Holiness 5. Discipleship 6. Good works. Additional scriptures in GotQuestions.org are below.

LET GOD’S WORD SOAK IN

“A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education.”

Theodore Roosevelt

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

Ps 119:105

“I have stored up your word in my heart, that I may not sin against you.”

Ps119:11

Billy Graham responded to these verses from Psalms by the following:

“If you are ignorant of God’s Word, you will always be ignorant of God’s will in your life!”

Some people like to read so many chapters every day… I would rather lay my soul a soak in half a dozen verses all day… OH, TO BE BATHED IN A VERSE OF SCRIPTURE,and let it be sucked up in your very soul, till it saturates your heart!”

Charles Spurgeon

What wisdom from 3 great and wise men. (FYI, Pres. Roosevelt established our National Parks System to preserve the beauty of God’s Creation.)

I do not claim to be wise, but I do claim to present one verse or one thought each day for us to resonate on and internalize.

Good morning as you hide God’s word in your heart today

BEEN THERE; DONE THAT

“For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.”

Heb 2:18

We have a tendency to think that Jesus, the Holy and perfect one knows nothing about how difficult it is to resist temptations of the world.

Wrong!

Satan tempted Jesus with food( to break his fast), power, and world recognition. (Mt. 4:1-11)

These are 3 of man’s fundamental desires and needs.

Jesus was tempted and resisted!

James gives us incite on how handle Satan.

“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

James 4:7

Jesus gave us a “vote of confidence “.

“In the world you will have problems . But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

SALVATION; IT’S UP TO YOU

“so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”

Phil 2:12

To paraphrase Paul in his counsel to the church in Philippi about salvation;

” If I am with you or more importantly if I am not with you, salvation is between you and your Savior and take it seriously”!

No one is ordained to tell you if you are saved.

You might be given a man-made certificate of Baptism by a pastor which is not an admission ticket to heaven at the Pearly Gates!

“John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

Acts 1:5

“In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were SEALED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT.”

Eph 1:13

You have the “story”!  It’s up to you!

Good morning as you feel Jesus living in you and sealed by the Holy Spirit

OH,WHAT A DAY THAT WILL BE

“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker”

Ps 95:6

We, in America, are so blessed that everyday is like “Super Bowl Saturday!”

We need to pause and “smell the roses”!

The psalmist calls us to put life into a proper perspective relationship.

• Worship our Creator

• Bow down before the King

• Kneel before the throne

Someday in our future, each of us will be called into the throne room of God.

How are you going to present yourself before our Almighty Holy God?

Good morning as I see myself prostrate before the throne, unworthy to be in His presence

THE ORIGINAL GUILTY CONSCIOUS

“Fear came into man’s heart with sin. Adam was never afraid of his God till he had broken his commands.”

C. H. Spurgeon

Anxiety is a major issue among many of us in the era we presently live in.

Anxiety is driven by a fear of something that is the antipathy of peace.

Spurgeon indicates man suffers fear due to guilt of breaking God’s laws.

Paul, who described himself as the greatest sinner (1Tim 1:15) of all, encourages us with these words;

“The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ.”

Phil 4:6-7

As easy as this sounds and as hard as it is to do, hand your anxieties over to Jesus.

Good morning as you accept the peace of God who guards your heart and mind

What is a Christian?

A Christian is defined as “a person professing belief in Jesus as the Christ.” While that is a good starting point. It falls somewhat short of really communicating the biblical truth of what it means to be a Christian.

The word “Christian” is used three times in the New Testament (Acts 11:26; Acts 26:28; 1 Peter 4:16) and it literally means, belonging to the party of Christ or a follower of Christ.

The mark of a true Christian is love for others and obedience to God’s Word (1 John 2:4, 10). A true Christian is indeed a child of God, a part of God’s true family, and one who has been given new life in Jesus Christ.

However, according to a recent Gallup poll, only 40% of Protestant and non-denominational Christians and 33% of Catholics attend worship services regularly.

The question is, are we a true Christian?

Praise God always.

WHAT DO YOU SEE

“Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.”

St. Augustine

The essence of St. Augustine’s faith statement is summed up in what is known as the Apostle’s Creed written in the 6th century.

“I believe in God,
the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
on the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.”

Amen

We need to have faith to see the fundamental beliefs of the foundation of Christianity.

Good morning as through your faith you envision Heaven

MercyMe – I Can Only Imagine (Video)  –  138 Million Views!!

On our last Day…

My dear friend Fred T. Entered the life eternal in this new year.  I sure do miss him.

I wonder as I wander…On our last day…What will we say?

Will we say I love you.

Will we say I forgive you.

Will we say do you forgive me?

Can you say it?

Can you show it?

Do they know it?

Can you give it?

Can you receive it?

On His last day,  Jesus Christ washed feet.

I wonder… Whatever it is, say it now.  Do it now.  Do not wait.  Many never know their last day and never get a chance to say it or do it.

James 4:14“Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.”

Matthew 22:37-39 (NIV): “Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

John 13:34-35 (NIV):     “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Matthew 6:14-15 (NIV): “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

Fred’s friendship was a late in life Blessing.  He raced toward me upon my stroke about 10 years ago.  The friendship grew strong to the point where we old men could say “I love you” upon each parting.  Heaven has another angel. I sure do miss him.
