We are called to be a witness for the light. Jesus said He is the light of life, shining in darkness.  Witness for the Light describes John the Baptist’s mission. He prepared the way for Jesus, the true Light of the world.

Life Application

John’s Role as a Witness

John 1:7 says, “He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him.” John the Baptist was not the light himself. His purpose was to point others to Jesus. When he saw Christ, he declared, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). His life’s mission was to prepare hearts for the Messiah.

Jesus, the Light of Life

Jesus declared, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). The light of Christ overcomes all darkness. His truth guides our paths, while His love frees us from sin’s grip. If we follow Him faithfully, we live in His light. No darkness can overpower His presence in our lives.

Our Call to Be Witnesses

We, like John, are called to bear witness. Acts 1:8 says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses.” This calling is not limited by time or place. From our homes to distant nations, the Spirit empowers us to share the light of Jesus. When we live as His witnesses, others see His truth through us.

Living as Witnesses Daily

Being a witness begins with everyday actions. Speak truth with kindness. Shine light in difficult places through encouragement and service. Reflect Jesus’ love in your home, workplace, and community. As Proverbs 23:7 reminds us, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he” so when our hearts are filled with His light, our witness becomes powerful. Good morning as you bear witness today to the “Light of Life.”
