Let Us Pray
Lord Jesus, You wept with those who mourned. Help us to love with that same compassion. May we feel the sorrow of others and respond with Your heart. In Your holy name, Amen.

Introduction
Deep in the Heart of Texas: Empathy and Christlike Love. We are united in mourning and driven by empathy. Our entire nation grieves the overwhelming loss from recent Texas floods. As families weep, we’re reminded of Jesus’ tears and our calling to love with compassion.
Empathy Deep in the Heart
The apostles Peter and Paul urged us to bond with others through compassion and humility. “Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate, and be humble” (1 Peter 3:8). Paul echoed this with clarity: “Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15).
Right now, we grieve deep in the heart of Texas. The floods have shaken our nation, pulling at the collective soul of a people created to love one another deeply. Yet in tragedy, empathy shines. Our tears, prayers, and outpourings of love bind us together. These are not just sympathetic gestures—they are divine expressions of Christ in us.
Even sociologists recognize that empathy is one of the most powerful forces in building lasting relationships. True empathy reaches beyond comfort—it connects, heals, and transforms. This is exactly what Jesus demonstrated at the tomb of Lazarus.
“Jesus wept. So the Jews said, ‘See how he loved him!’” (John 11:35-36). In that quiet moment of shared grief, Jesus showed the full weight of divine empathy. He did not simply speak comfort; He joined in their pain. He felt their sorrow—and responded with tears.
May we do likewise. As we mourn with Texas, let our love be more than words. May it be action, prayer, generosity, and presence. Let it show Christ in us, weeping with the brokenhearted.
