Introduction
Embrace the enriching Breath of God devotion. Let each breath remind you of the divine presence in your life.
In the quiet dawn of creation, God knelt in the garden’s soil, His hands shaping something wondrous.
From the dust of the earth—simple clay, unremarkable and formless—He crafted humanity.
But mere form was not enough. With tender intimacy, He leaned close and breathed.
That breath changed everything. It transformed dust into destiny, clay into a living soul.
Today’s devotion invites us to slow down, feel the sacred rhythm of our breathing,
and remember that every inhale is a gift from God Himself.
If these daily reflections strengthen your walk, you’re warmly invited to receive them by email. Join our Devotions Done Daily family here:

Quotation
“The body came from clay and returns to dust.
But the spirit came from the breath of God, and soars with the angels.”— Bill Tolbert, January 10, 2025
The Body
“Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils
the breath of life, and the man became a living being” (Genesis 2:7, NIV).
That breath was no ordinary air. Scripture calls it ruach—the very Spirit of God.
With one holy exhale, the Creator infused fragile clay with divine vitality.
We are not accidents of dirt; we are masterpieces animated by God’s own life force.
Every heartbeat echoes that sacred moment. Every dream, every act of compassion,
every longing for meaning traces back to the breath God placed within us.
Your lungs carry more than oxygen—they carry a reminder that you were personally
and purposefully made.
Yet Scripture is honest about our limits. Time weathers the body.
Strength fades, years leave their mark, and eventually the vessel returns to the earth.
“And the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it”
(Ecclesiastes 12:7, NIV).
The Spirit
Here is the profound contrast: the body completes its earthly cycle,
but the spirit journeys home. What was loaned in creation is reclaimed in eternity—not as loss, but as reunion.
The clay crumbles, but the ruach endures. The breath of God whispers of resurrection hope, eternal belonging,
and a future not bound by dust.
Today, pause and notice your breathing.
With every inhale, remember God’s gift.
With every exhale, offer gratitude, surrender, and praise.
Live boldly. Love fiercely.
Your dust is temporary—but your spirit is forever His.
