Introduction
The Word of God is food for the soul. Jesus said we live not on bread alone but on the Word of God. The Word of God strengthens faith. What are you living on? Jesus said that man does not live on bread alone, but on every word from God. This powerful reminder invites us to feed on God’s Word, which is food for the soul and the source of true life.
Life Application
Jesus stood in the wilderness after fasting forty days, facing the devil’s temptation. His response was clear: “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God’” (John 4:4). Physical bread sustains the body, but the Word of God nourishes the soul. This truth gives us the foundation to endure every season of trial. Paul explains, “Faith comes by hearing the word of God” (Romans 10:17). That means the Bible is not just a book; it is our faith’s power source. As we hear, read, and believe, the Spirit of God fills us with strength to persevere. The more we live on the Word, the more our hearts align with heaven’s promises. Our thoughts and actions begin to reflect what is eternal rather than what is temporary. “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7).
What we consume daily shapes who we become. When we feast on Scripture, the Holy Spirit feeds us with the bread of life. Just as daily meals are necessary for physical strength, daily time in God’s Word fuels spiritual growth. Without it, we grow weak and vulnerable. With it, we are anointed, empowered, and equipped to face trials with courage. Today, let us make the Word of God our true sustenance. Choose to meditate on it, to speak it aloud, and to carry it into every conversation. It is more than knowledge—it is life itself.
