Let Us Pray

Heavenly Father, thank You for calling us to be Your witnesses. Help us shine Your light into a dark world, boldly declaring the truth of Christ. Fill us with the Holy Spirit so that our words and actions always point others to Jesus. Amen.

Introduction

A Christian is a Witness who shines the light of Christ. Live boldly as a witness for Jesus, empowered by the Spirit.  Every follower of Christ is called to bear witness to the Light of the world. This truth reminds us of our purpose and mission, encouraging us to live boldly as His messengers.

Life Application

John’s Gospel reminds us that John the Baptist was a witness who pointed people to Jesus: “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a WITNESS, to bear WITNESS about the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to bear WITNESS about the light.” (John 5:6–8). His example shows us that a Christian’s role is not to draw attention to themselves but to Christ. Our mission as believers is clear—we shine the light of Jesus so others can see truth in a world of darkness.

A Christian is a Witness who lives this calling daily. Jesus commissioned His followers with these words: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my WITNESSES in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8). Notice that the Holy Spirit provides the power.

Spread the Light of Christ

A Christian is a Witness who does not rely on clever arguments or personal strength but on the Spirit of God. This gives us boldness to speak truth and confidence to live faithfully in every circumstance. As WITNESSES, we proclaim light into places of darkness. We expose Satan as the “father of lies” and remind the world of God’s victory. Being a witness means refusing to simply “play church.” Instead, we live with conviction, knowing the end of the story: light always wins. John 1:5 declares, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” That means our witness is never in vain. Even when the world seems to grow darker, the light of Christ breaks through.

A Christian is a Witness who trusts in this truth. A Christian witness shines by living differently—through kindness, integrity, forgiveness, and love. Sometimes our witness is verbal, sharing the Gospel directly. Other times, it is through action, showing the world what Jesus is like. Both are essential. People need to see our light and hear the truth that fuels it. As we walk closely with Christ, our witness becomes stronger, consistent, and undeniable.

A Christian is a Witness in both word and deed. Every believer is given the same assignment: to witness. We don’t have to be preachers or theologians. God uses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things through His Spirit. Remember, when you share the hope of Christ, you carry His victory into every conversation, every workplace, and every home. Good morning—today, charge your light with the Holy Spirit and let it shine brightly for all to see.
