Let Us Pray

Heavenly Father, thank You for adopting us as Your children through faith in Jesus. Remind us daily of our true identity and inheritance in Christ. Amen.

Introduction

Children of God is a powerful phrase that defines our identity and our eternal inheritance. This truth reminds us who we belong to and the promises we have in Christ.

What It Means to Be Children of God

Children of God enjoy eternal inheritance through Christ.  Learn what it means to be co-heirs with Jesus and how to live in that identity. “To all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)

When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we become children of God. That transformation isn’t symbolic—it’s spiritual adoption. Through faith, we enter into a family relationship with the Creator of the universe. That means something profound and eternal. The Bible says, “Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His suffering in order that we may also share in His glory.” (Romans 8:17)

Never Alone

Even when life is hard, we can rejoice because we’re never alone. The lyrics from CAIN’s “I’m So Blessed” say it beautifully: “On my best day I am a child of God, and on my worst day I am a child of God. Every day is a good day and You are the reason why.”

Peter also assures us that we have an eternal inheritance: “To an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.” (1 Peter 1:4)

These promises shape how we live and how we see the world. To stay grounded in this truth, consider reminding yourself of these seven truths each day:

  • God is my Father
  • Christ is my Savior
  • Heaven is my home
  • Scripture is my guide
  • Every believer is my family
  • The gospel is my message
  • God’s glory is my goal

These reminders will help keep our hearts anchored in our true identity. We need to remember daily that we have our identity in Christ —not by merit, but by God’s grace.
