Introduction

Security of the believer is a source of deep comfort and lasting joy. Although some question whether we can lose salvation, Scripture provides powerful assurance.

Our Eternal Security in Christ

Security of the believer brings peace. Jesus promises never to cast us out. Find peace in His eternal security today. Trust His Word.  Jesus boldly declared, “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.” (John 6:37). These words offer confident hope. They remind us that salvation begins with God and is secured by His unchanging will. In John 6:38-39, Jesus continued, “I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me… that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day.” What an incredible promise! If Jesus cannot fail to accomplish the Father’s will, then neither can He fail to keep those whom the Father has given Him.

John again records this same theme in the garden of Gethsemane. Jesus said, “If you seek me, let these men go.” He was fulfilling His earlier promise: “Of those whom you gave me I have lost not one.” (John 18:8).

Christian Security

He protected His disciples in life and committed to preserving them for eternity. Still, Paul urges believers to remain engaged: “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:12-13). This verse does not undermine our security. Instead, it encourages reverence and cooperation with God’s ongoing work of sanctification. Consequently, we can rest knowing our salvation is secure—not because we never stumble, but because He never lets go. As the hymn says, “He will hold me fast.” Today, take a moment to reflect. Examine yourself not to fear losing salvation, but to rejoice in the assurance of being held by Jesus Himself. That’s the true security of the believer.
