“How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD of hosts! For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.” – Psalm 84:1,10 (ESV)

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him.” – Revelation 3:20 (ESV)

The Search for Jesus

We often try to find Jesus by doing all the right things:

  • Attending church regularly
  • Maintaining a faithful prayer life
  • Giving our tithes generously
  • Reading the Bible daily

But even in doing all of this, we can still feel distant and ask ourselves, “Where is Jesus?”

Jesus Is at the Door

Jesus reminds us in Revelation 3:20 that He stands at the door and knocks. The decision to open our hearts is ours. When we do, Jesus promises to enter in and dwell with us. It’s not about ritual—it’s about relationship.

Psalm 84 captures the deep longing of a soul that desires to dwell with the Lord, not just visit. The psalmist would rather be a doorkeeper in God’s house than dwell anywhere else. That’s the kind of longing that brings us into the presence of Jesus.

If you feel like you’ve lost sight of Him, remember—He hasn’t moved. He’s right there, gently knocking. Open the door today. Not just with your habits, but with your heart.

“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” – Proverbs 23:7
