Introduction

Making of a Champion in Life begins at home, where parents shape character and faith. God calls fathers and mothers to guide their children in discipline, patience, and love. The making of a champion in life is not about earthly trophies but about eternal crowns prepared by Jesus.

Life Application

Paul tells parents, “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). This teaching reminds us that parents are life coaches. Every family has its unique style, yet there are universal principles that shape the making of a champion in life.

James provides practical wisdom for daily living: be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger (James 1:19). These three practices alone could transform any household. He also calls us to put away all filthiness and wickedness, to bridle the tongue, and to remember that faith without obedience is empty. A careless word wounds, but a gentle answer heals. When parents live as doers of the Word rather than hearers only, they model a faith that children can trust and imitate.

St. Francis of Assisi’s famous advice applies beautifully to parenting: “Preach the Gospel at all times and if necessary, use words.” A champion in life is not made by lectures but by consistent examples. When children see faith lived out with integrity—through honesty, forgiveness, prayer, and service—they inherit more than rules; they inherit a way of life that leads to Christ.

Proverbs 23:7 says, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Parents plant seeds in the heart by the way they love and correct. A home rooted in God’s Word becomes training ground for champions who understand that victory is not measured by worldly success but by walking faithfully with Jesus. Through this, the making of a champion in life is fulfilled in both parent and child.

I like the use of “life coaches “as role for parents to fulfill. I think the same applies to friends and family. We’re all life coaches to each other. The senior life coach is Christ!!!
Sally and I went to see the opening of the next season of “The Chosen “it was excellent. I recommended to all
