“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.”
John 15: 1-2
Jesus can prune us in different ways:
• Through His word which is “sharper than a two edged sword” (Heb 4:12)
• Through hardships: “suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,”
(Rom 3:4)
Jesus’ Pruning can be aligned with
Paul’s teachings.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be TRANSFORMED by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God,”
Rom 12:2
Note: The Greek for transformed is the English word “metamorphosis”. This interpreted means one is changed by the Holy Spirit rather than behavioral changes through self-help books.
