Shout to the Lord

“Blessed are the people who know the festal shout,who walk, O LORD, in the light of your face.”

Ps 89:15

The Hebrew word translated to “festal shout,” means a shout of triumph

and celebration in the joy of victory.

You know the shout:

-your favorite team closes in on victory

-you catch the big fish

-your grandchild gets a “walk-off” hit

To shout is mentioned several times in the Psalms.

Peter shouted  , “It is the Lord”,  when Jesus walked on water.

Thomas shouted, “My Lord and my God,” when he placed his hand in the wound.

A noted pastor led 35,000 men at a Promise Keepers Conference to SHOUT after he read each verse of the 23rd Psalm. (Psalms 23 has never been the same to me.)

If “shouting” is too charismatic for you, can you say, “Amen”?  Or can you lift your hand when singing praises to our most high Lord and Savior?

“So I will bless you as long as I live;

in your name I will lift up my hands.”

Ps 63:4
