Sanctification in 2025

Spiritual Growth – Growing in Holiness

As 2025 begins, many Christians have made spiritual resolutions—but some may already feel they’ve fallen short. Exploring the concept of sanctification in 2025 can offer guidance and inspiration for those on their spiritual journey.

The Christian life unfolds in key stages: justification, sanctification, and glorification. Justification is a one-time act of God—He declares us righteous through faith in Jesus Christ. As Romans 5:1 (NIV) says, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” The year 2025 presents a unique opportunity to focus on sanctification.

Sanctification, however, is a process. It is our journey of becoming more like Jesus. This growth happens not by human effort alone, but through the power of the Holy Spirit. As 2 Peter 3:18 instructs, “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” Reflecting on sanctification during the new year can be transformative.

Becoming More Like Jesus

We are sanctified as we daily surrender our hearts, habits, and hopes to God. This transformation touches every part of life. Ephesians 4:22-24 reminds us: “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self… to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” In 2025, this process of sanctification is crucial.

Sanctification is not optional—it’s God’s will for us (1 Thessalonians 4:3). And one day, glorification will complete what sanctification started. As 1 Corinthians 6:11 declares, “But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” Consider what sanctification means in 2025.

So in 2025, are you following Jesus, or asking Him to follow your plans? Reflect on how sanctification in the upcoming year guides your choices.

Let this year be one where you grow in holiness.

Let Us Pray

Lord, grow me in holiness. Make me more like Jesus each day. May the Spirit shape my heart and mind. Amen. Ponder the path to sanctification during 2025.
