Know His voice, and follow. Jesus gives us eternal life and secure salvation.

Recognizing the Father’s Voice 

My former Eli Lilly associate, Charlie Duncan, served 38 months in North Africa and Europe as a Captain of a tank company under General George Patton during World War II. When Charlie left, his wife was pregnant with their first child.

Years later, Charlie returned to Memphis on a crowded fall night. Troop trains arrived, railcars opened, and soldiers poured out. Families gathered, searching for their loved ones amid a sea of uniforms.

Charlie’s wife held young Jan—just two or three years old—on her shoulder, scanning the crowd frantically. Then, unexpectedly, Jan cried out, “Momma, there is Daddy!”

This child had never seen his father in person, only in photos. Yet, he somehow recognized him. That moment still brings tears to my eyes. It’s a powerful image of how we, as children of God, recognize the voice of our Savior. Even if we’ve never seen Him face to face, our hearts know His voice.

Know His voice and follow. Jesus promises eternal life and unshakable salvation to those who listen. 👉 Hear Him today.

 

Security in Salvation

Jesus promises that those who hear His voice and follow Him will never perish. No one can snatch them from His hand. This gives us tremendous peace—knowing that we are safe in Christ, forever.

When we walk closely with Him through Scripture and prayer, we hear His voice clearly. We experience moral clarity and spiritual peace. If we know His voice, we can trust Him to lead us home.

Editor’s note: In the final days of Kaye’s life, a dear friend sang “In the Garden” at her bedside. The presence of Jesus filled the room. We heard His voice that day.

Christ Lives in Me

Christ lives in me—this truth changes everything when we grasp it fully.

Seeing the Big Picture

Paul got it. He understood what many of us miss—the “big picture” of the Christian life. He saw himself as spiritually crucified with Christ. His old life died, and Jesus began living in him. This powerful truth gave Paul direction, purpose, and faith.

In three short points, Paul sums up the entire gospel:

  • He was crucified with Christ.
  • Jesus now lives in him.
  • He lives by faith in Jesus, who loves him and gave Himself for him.

This wasn’t just theory for Paul—it was his everyday reality. Because of this faith, Paul could endure prison, persecution, and even death. He knew who lived inside him.

Living by Faith Today

What about us? When we see the big picture like Paul did, we stop trying to live by our own power. We lean into the One who lives in us. Jesus does not merely walk beside us—He lives within us. This truth allows us to face life’s struggles with courage and hope.

Proverbs 23:7 reminds us: “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” When we believe that Christ truly lives in us, our whole outlook shifts. So today, walk by faith. Know that Jesus is alive and working within you.

Good morning, and may you feel Christ living in you by faith.

Christ Died For Us

Christ died for us while we were still sinners. He saw our potential and paid the price for our eternity. Accept His love today.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

He Saw Our Potential

I recently read about a university that offered a football scholarship to an eighth grader. The offer wouldn’t take effect until high school graduation, but the coach already saw the potential. That story reminded me of Christ’s love. He saw us not as we were, but as we could be. While we were still sinners—immature, rebellious, lost—He died for us. Like that coach, Jesus had a plan and believed in our future.

Jesus didn’t just demonstrate love. He showed faith in us. He knew what we could become in Him. This faith is echoed by Paul in Philippians 1:6: “He who began a good work in you will complete it in the day of Jesus Christ.”

We Are a Work in Progress

After Paul’s conversion on the Damascus road, he spent about three years in Arabia. It was a time of spiritual growth, guided by the Holy Spirit. During this period, Paul came to fully grasp the grace of God. Like Paul, we are in process. Jesus knows our flaws—and our potential—because He created us.

Proverbs 23:7 says, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” So, what are you thinking about today? Do you believe Jesus has a plan for you? Are you holding on to the truth that He died for you long before you even knew Him?

Good morning. Make sure you’ve accepted your ticket to eternity—Jesus paid for it over 2,000 years ago.

Know God Better

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword…”

Most Christians say they want to know God deeply, yet are we truly doing what it takes to understand Him better?

How to Know God Better

We can never fully know God, but we can strive to learn more about Him. Even so, we can pursue what He reveals and strive to know Him better. Knowing Him is not merely an idea; it’s a personal journey that grows over time. Here are five key steps to begin or strengthen that journey:

  • Accept Christ as Lord and Savior. Without Him, we cannot draw near to the Father. Jesus said, “No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
  • Read His Word daily. Hebrews 4:12 reminds us, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword…” Therefore, Scripture is not just history—it’s God speaking now. When we read, reflect, and apply it, our hearts are changed through knowing Him more closely.
  • Be filled with the Holy Spirit. This is not a one-time event but an ongoing surrender. In fact, Ephesians 5:18 urges us to “be filled with the Spirit,” implying continuous openness to God’s presence and guidance.
  • Seek Him in prayer. With this practice, we draw closer to knowing God better. Prayer connects us to God’s heart. As Paul writes, “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Through prayer, we listen, confess, praise, and ask. It keeps us anchored and attentive to His will, enhancing our journey in knowing God better.
  • Fellowship with believers. We are encouraged to not neglect meeting together (Hebrews 10:25). Moreover, walking with others strengthens us when we’re weak and helps us rejoice when we’re strong. God often speaks through His people.

Take Action to Grow

It’s not enough to talk about knowing God. Instead, we must do the things that lead us to Him, and knowing God better should be a constant goal. For example, James 4:8 encourages us, “Come near to God and he will come near to you.”

So, will we settle for just good intentions, or will we take real steps of faith and obedience? The truth is that truly knowing God more intimately requires intention, consistency, and a heart surrendered to Him.

Therefore, let us press on. Let us seek Him daily. Let us grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and always endeavor to know Him better. Praise God always.

Soar Like an Eagle

Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

The prophet Isaiah uses a physical metaphor to illustrate the spiritual power of the Lord.

Strength Renewed by Waiting

Isaiah knew that even the strongest, most energetic young people eventually grow tired. But God’s promise goes deeper than physical ability—He offers supernatural renewal. When we wait upon the Lord, relying on His timing and trusting in His provision, He gives us what no earthly source can: renewed strength from above.

This divine empowerment is not just a recharge—it’s a transformation. Those who place their hope in the Lord will mount up with wings like eagles. Eagles have wingspans of up to eight feet and are designed to soar high, using minimal energy while riding the wind. What an image of God’s efficiency in blessing His people!

Soaring Through Life’s Challenges

When Christians “soar like an eagle,” they are spiritually energized to rise above the trials of life. It is not by our own effort that we overcome anxiety, grief, fatigue, or temptation. Instead, we trust in the One who strengthens the faint and empowers the powerless. God’s grace lifts us. His Spirit sustains us.

This day, open your heart and stretch out your arms—physically or metaphorically—and receive the power of the Lord. Don’t just survive. Soar.

Let Us Pray

Lord, I am weary and often faint, but I place my hope in You. Renew my strength today. Let me rise above worry and doubt, and soar with Your Spirit. Amen.

Put Your hand in His  

Put Your hand in His

Trust in God’s Guidance.  “Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God.” These words, penned by poet Minnie Louise Haskins and shared by my sanctified friend Mary R. from Michigan and Indiana, shine like a beacon as we begin a new year. They echo the deep truth that trusting God is far better than walking by our own light, so trust in Him.

We are spiritual beings here for a time-bound human experience. We wrestle with uncertainties—about health, family, finances, and direction. The road ahead may seem dim. But the Word and Spirit of God guide us when we walk with Him. As the poet wrote, reaching for Him is “better than a light and safer than a known way.”

Psalm 139:10 reminds us, “Even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.” This shows the importance of relying on God.

Friend, you may not know the exact path, but you can know the Guide. Reach for Him today, in prayer and in faith. Let Him lead you toward the “breaking of day in the lone East.” The trials we face are not permanent—they are preparation. And His presence is not a distant hope, but a present help.

So as the new year unfolds, resolve not merely to walk forward, but to walk forward *with* God. Strengthen your spiritual muscles through prayer, Scripture, and worship. And remember: relying entirely on your steps or decisions will not be as fruitful as walking with Him.   So put your hand in His and trust in God’s guidance for spiritual strength.

Lord, take our hands today. Lead us into Your light, even when the way feels uncertain. Thank You for guiding us safely through every unknown. Amen.

Introduction

1 John 2:24–25 (ESV) – “Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that he made to us—eternal life.”

Standing on His promises anchors us in truth as we begin each day.

Hold On to the Truth

The Apostle John penned 1 John, 2 John, and 3 John when he was around 80 years old—proof that wisdom often ripens with age. (Let’s hear it for octogenarians!) After walking with Jesus and witnessing His ministry, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension, John offered us his heartfelt, Spirit-filled encouragement.

John knew well the enemy’s oldest tactic—planting seeds of doubt. Just as the serpent whispered to Eve, the enemy still tempts believers today: “Did God really say that?” But John, as a faithful witness, urges us to let the truth we heard at first, standing on His promises, remain in us. That truth isn’t just information—it’s the living Word, Jesus Himself.

“If what you heard… abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father.” That’s not only a promise—it’s a relationship.

God is faithful. Jesus keeps His promises. And the promise we’re reminded of here is glorious: eternal life. Not temporary comfort, not fleeting success but eternal life in the presence of the living God.

Start with a Song

This morning, don’t just sip your coffee—sing! Whether it’s “Standing on the Promises” or “Jesus Saves,” start your day in praise, rooted in His unshakable truth.

As Proverbs 23:7 reminds us, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Let your thoughts reflect His promises today, remembering the importance of standing on them!

Take Up Your Cross

Luke 9:23 (ESV) — “And he said to all, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.’”

Take up your cross is Jesus’ call to radical, daily discipleship, not occasional religious performance.

The Call to Daily Denial

Follow Jesus —deny yourself, make a daily commitment with  bold obedience. There is no room for entitlement or half-heartedness. True followers put others first, just as Christ did. That means laying down pride, privilege, and preference.

Not Just on Sunday

Jesus said, “take up your cross daily.” This isn’t a once-a-week faith. It’s a seven-day-a-week surrender. Monday through Sunday, we walk in love, truth, and service. We don’t get spiritual days off. Faith is not a performance—it’s a lifestyle.

Following Jesus Takes You Places

The path of Jesus often leads to uncomfortable places—where needs are greatest:

  • Visiting those in prison
  • Caring for the sick in hospitals
  • Feeding the hungry and clothing the poor
  • Welcoming strangers with grace
  • Giving water to the thirsty

Jesus walked toward the hurting, not away from them. To follow Him means we do the same—loving the least, last, and lost.

So what’s the sign-up process to follow Christ? It’s simple, but not easy. The sign-up sheet is at the Cross. Good morning—and bring your heart.

Jesus never promised instant reward. In fact, He made it clear that we’d face trouble before triumph, emphasizing the need to wait with patience for your earnings.

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
— John 16:33 (NIV)

Our Present Pain is Not Final

Paul reminds us that suffering is temporary and incomparable to what God has prepared: the challenge is to patiently await your wages.

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”
— Romans 8:18 (NIV)

When hardship seems endless, we are encouraged to take heart and keep waiting:

“Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.”
— Psalm 27:14 (NIV)

Faith Thinks Forward

Delayed rewards don’t mean denied promises. As Proverbs teaches us, patience is key as we anticipate our wages.

“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”
— Proverbs 23:7 (KJV)

If we live with eternity in mind, we will think with faith-filled expectation, even in trials. Real wages come not in applause or comfort, but in the crown of life awaiting faithful servants. So take courage as you wait; the glory will far outweigh the wait.

Good morning — and as my mother loved to sing — let’s rejoice in the promise of what’s to come, knowing that while we wait for your wages, they are assured.

Lord, strengthen me to wait for You. Help me remember that my reward is eternal. Teach my heart to trust Your timing, not mine. Amen.

Luke 2:7 (NIV) – “And she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.”

Jesus knocks at the door of your heart—will you make room for Jesus ?

Open the Door to Christ

Each of us is an innkeeper. Whether we know it or not, we decide if there’s room in our lives for Jesus. Luke 2:7 reminds us that when Mary gave birth to Jesus, there was no room in the inn—no space for the Savior of the world. Yet today, we are given the opportunity to say “yes” to Him and invite Him in.

The Gospel of John presents Jesus as divine. He boldly stated seven “I Am” declarations that reflect His eternal nature and intimate connection with the Father. These include:

  • I am the bread of life (John 6:35)
  • I am the light of the world (John 8:12)
  • I am the door (John 10:7)
  • I am the good shepherd (John 10:11, 14)
  • I am the resurrection and the life (John 11:25)
  • I am the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6)
  • I am the true vine (John 15:1)

All of these truths point to Jesus as the one who nourishes, guides, protects, and redeems us. However, He still waits—He stands at the door and knocks (Revelation 3:20). Your response matters deeply. Will you make room for Jesus in the  best room… in your heart today—the honeymoon suite, reserved for your deepest love?

As Proverbs 23:7 reminds us, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Let your heart be filled with Christ. Let your thoughts reflect His presence. And let today be the day you make room for Jesus —not just during Christmas, but every day of the year.
