Opening Paragraph:
There are many types of angels. The purpose of angels extends far beyond Christmas stories or nativity scenes. Angels protect us.

Angels Serve and Protect
All angels were created by God: “In speaking of the angels He says, ‘He makes His angels spirits, and His servants flames of fire'” (Hebrews 1:7).
There are two types of angels—holy angels and fallen angels. Jesus said of Satan: “He was a murderer from the beginning… he is a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44). In Luke 10:18, Jesus declared, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.” This reveals how fallen angels chose rebellion. But the holy angels chose obedience and serve God’s purposes faithfully.
While we often remember angels announcing the birth of Christ, that’s only part of their work. God’s holy angels:
- Serve His people
- Deliver divine messages
- Fight in spiritual warfare
- Worship and serve God
- Carry out divine judgment
- Help in revealing God’s Word
Angels are deeply involved in God’s ongoing work and are active even now.
Angels Protect God’s People
Psalm 91:11 reminds us: “For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” That means God’s protection is both intentional and personal. Angels are agents of God’s care, strategically sent to protect His children.
So when life feels uncertain, take heart: God’s angels are closer than you think—watching, working, and warring on your behalf.
Let Us Pray
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your angels to protect and serve us. Help us trust Your unseen hand, knowing we are never alone. Amen.
