Let Us Pray
Lord, thank You for shining Your light into every shadow of our past. Help us press forward, eyes fixed on Jesus, the Light of the world. Let us walk in truth, free from regret and full of hope. Amen.

Introduction
Press on and follow the Light. Jesus leads us out of darkness into life. When the past no longer guides us, His light will. Trust Him. Press on and follow the Light—this is the high calling for every believer. The world may cling to the past, but Jesus lights the path forward. When the past no longer illuminates the future, Christ calls us to walk by faith, not by nostalgia.
Let the Light Lead You
French scholar Alexis de Tocqueville once wrote, “When the past no longer illuminates the future, the spirit walks in darkness.” That insight holds secular truth. Yet for followers of Christ, darkness should never define our path.
Why? Because Jesus said plainly, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). His light is not dependent on human history, memories, or worldly achievements. His light pierces through fear, regret, and confusion.
The apostle Paul warns us not to dwell in the past: “Forgetting the past and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13). Living in the past can blur our vision and distract our walk. Forward is the direction of faith.
Remember Lot’s wife. She looked back and became a pillar of salt. Her story stands as a sobering reminder: looking back at what God has called us to leave behind invites spiritual paralysis.
Proverbs 23:7 affirms that “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Our direction often follows our focus. If we dwell in regret or cling to yesterday’s glories, we risk missing today’s calling.
Press on and follow the Light. Your past is not your prison. With Christ, your path shines brighter with each obedient step. Don’t walk in the shadows—walk in the light of life.
