He Faced What We Face
We sometimes imagine Jesus—holy and perfect—as disconnected from our struggles. But Hebrews 2:18 reminds us otherwise. Jesus was tempted just as we are. He was hungry after fasting for forty days, and Satan tempted Him with food. He was offered power and prestige, yet He refused (Matthew 4:1–11). These temptations reflect some of humanity’s strongest desires: provision, control, and recognition.
But Jesus didn’t give in. He endured the full pressure of temptation without ever sinning. That makes Him uniquely qualified to help us when we’re tempted. He knows the battle firsthand.
Resist and Stand Firm
James gives us simple, powerful guidance: “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7) We’re not alone in that resistance. Jesus stands with us as our advocate and helper. He not only shows us the way—He is the way.
Jesus also left us with encouragement: “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) When we follow Him, we walk in victory, not defeat.
Today, as we follow in His footsteps, we do so knowing He understands, He walks with us, and He empowers us.
Let Us Pray
Lord Jesus, thank You for walking where we walk and for understanding our weaknesses. Help us resist temptation and trust in Your power. Amen.
