Praise and thank God always. Praise Him in trials and blessings. Give thanks for salvation, for grace, and for being a child of God. Praise and thank God every day, for He alone is worthy of all glory. Whether in joy or hardship, we’re called to praise Him and thank Him continually.
Give Praise and Thank God Always
“Oh, give thanks to the Lord; call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples!” (Psalms 105:1-5) “Let them praise Your great and awesome name! Holy is He!” (Psalms 99:3) How often do we pause to say thank You to God, to Jesus, and to the Holy Spirit? Not just in moments of need or during church services—but every single day? In Hebrew, one of the words for “praise” is yadah. This rich word means more than singing songs. It means to praise, give thanks, and even to confess. It’s an intentional act of lifting up God’s name in reverence and gratitude. Jesus taught us this principle clearly in the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13). Notice that He begins with adoration: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.”
Before asking for anything, we are to praise God. Then, we are to thank Him—for our salvation, for our blessings, for our eternal future, and even for our trials. Yes, even the difficult seasons hold purpose. They bring us closer to Him. But sometimes, we take our relationship with God for granted. We move through life without acknowledging the source of every good and perfect gift. The truth is, the most important thing about us is that we are children of God. That’s our identity! Because we have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, we belong to Him forever. That alone is reason enough to praise and thank Him—daily, hourly, always.
